LODGING | A piece of history
The James Cottage
The James Cottage was transplanted to this location from Old Kernville in the 1950s, where the lake now resides. This home has sentimental value to our family because of its history and heritage. We restored this historic Kernville house in 2015 while living in a motor home with our three children. The James Cottege was built by our great-great grandpa, Billy James, in the 1920's. Billy James was the founder of James Store, now Sierra Gateway Market, that is owned by our father Mark Preston and brother Cody Preston. We decided it is important to share our special story with visitors to our beloved little town. We truly hope you enjoy your stay in this special "little" place as much as we have.
